In October 2023, the Impact Foundation was awarded a grant by the U.S. Embassy in North Macedonia to enhance access to training and employment opportunities for young women and men by promoting freelancing as a viable career path.
Donor: US Embassy North Macedonia
Project Objective:
The proposed project aims to enhance the access of young women and men to training and employment opportunities through the promotion of freelancing as a career.
Project Implementation:
October 2023 – April 2024
Activities:
Impact Foundation organized a series of events titled “From Beginner to Successful Freelancer”, promoting five non-formal training programs that equip individuals with essential freelancing skills. We held six in-person events featuring accomplished freelancers who shared their journeys, challenges, and insights. These events attracted over 300 participants and served not only as learning experiences but also as valuable networking platforms, connecting emerging freelancers with peers and professionals in the field. We concluded the project by organizing a roundtable event that brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Public Revenue Office, the Agency for Employment, and other relevant institutions. The roundtable served as a critical space for dialogue on the current challenges and opportunities within the Macedonian freelance ecosystem. Stakeholders discussed potential regulatory improvements, taxation issues, and the need for support structures for young freelancers. More details and outcomes from the roundtable can be found in our official blog post. Through these strategic activities, the Impact Foundation helped lay the groundwork for a more inclusive and supportive environment for freelancers in North Macedonia, while fostering meaningful partnerships that will continue to strengthen the freelance ecosystem.
