More and more people are turning to freelance work as their career. According to UpWork statistics, there were 23,000 freelancers total in the Western Balkans in 2021. In North Macedonia there are a total of 3,200 of which 2,900 are active.
The most popular skills on the market are: Adobe Photoshop, WordPress, Adobe Illustrator, Data Entry, Graphic Design, JavaScript, PHP, Internet Research, and other digital skills are not excluded.
The beauty of freelancing is that the freelancer determines his/her working hours, has the opportunity to work for domestic and foreign clients and can go hiking on Tuesdays if he/she wants to.
Main Obstacles For Freelancers And How To Overcome Them
Freelance beginners often wonder how to get a first client, how to pay taxes and get health and pension insurance, how to prepare their portfolio, how to organize their time.
The freelancing course provides the answers to all these questions. Namely, this course has been implemented for several months and they have resulted in a total of 202 qualified freelancers. The course is continuously conducted by 5 training centers in our country: Semos Education, Seavus Accelerator, Brainster, Melita and Partners, Institute of Design and Technology as a project of Impact Foundation funded by RECONOMY, Helvetas and Sida.
RECONOMY is a regional inclusive and green economic development program of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), implemented by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation in partnership with the Impact Foundation and other organizations in the Eastern Partnership and Western Balkans.
Freelance Course Results
Previous statistics state that in the period from July 2021 to April 2022 in the training centers are trained in total:
- 202 total freelancers trained;
- 76 are men;
- 126 are women.
People of all ages who don’t have knowledge of freelance can apply to gain knowledge about freelancing thanks to the instructors. All you need is a computer, internet and a desire to upgrade.
Each training center conducts the course in its own way. Some have it as a separate course, while others have incorporated it in their academies. Everyone can listen to the courses from the comfort of their own home through the platforms of the centers. The time is determined collectively.
